Post-OldLine Christianity

Every so often things fall out of my head and I am unsure as to where to put them.  Here is one such brain dropping.

The church of the 21st century is swiftly declining, and something soon will have to be done if there is any hope of the Old Line Denominations making it far into the 21st century.  Here is what I think may have to happen:

I believe the postmodern church going to have to find a way to overcome the inward turned ecclesiological system that existed in order that the system might exist.   As well we need to find a solution to the creeping influence of relativism ,which isn't merely a different metanarrative it is a metanarrative in direct opposition to ours.

I think this is something that maybe we can only accomplish by radically re imagining everything ecclesiastical ... and everything that  falls under that... including homiletics, pastoral care, church structure, leadership, membership,  even the structure in which the Holy Spirit in-gathers the people both literally and metaphorically.

We are also going to need a re-imagined hermeneutics and one which is highly trinitarian....

More as my brain continues to melt a bit under the strain of all this reading for my doctoral classes.
